Santa’s Helpers and Lusk Elks Lodge #1797 join forces

Posted

It’s that time of the year again that Santa’s Helpers is in holiday crunch time but this year they have a little more help than usual.

The Lusk Elks Lodge #1797 received a Beacon Grant from the Elks National Foundation. The decided purpose for the grant was to do Christmas baskets. Since Santa Helpers has been doing this for several years, the Lodge decided to partner with them.

With the infusion of funds from the Elks Lodge and the experience of the Santa Helpers, the program will continue to be a vital Niobrara holiday tradition.

A food drive has been set up at the Elks Lodge for the Christmas baskets.

Steve Kant, Elks Lodge #1797 Treasurer, feels that this is just where the Elks need to be. Providing assistance to not only the Santa Helpers Program but also the community at large. Preparing needed items so that everyone can enjoy a Merry Christmas.

The Santa’s Helpers committee consists of Patti Sigvartsen, Carolyn Gill, Kayla Courtright, Mandy Pruitt, Linda Frye, Shatto Smith, Dawn Scott, Brenda Midkiff, Barbie Turner and Jackie Bredthauer.

The annual event will be held Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the Niobrara County Fairgrounds, with the doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the events starting at 6:00 p.m.

The evening offers a chance for comradery among community members with one common goal in mind, the children. “Just seeing all the smiling faces on the children and adults make it worth all the hours it takes to put this together. Our community is always there for us and they make things so much easier for us. It’s about the children and that’s why I love doing this” comments Patti Sigvartsen.

Santa’s Helpers is an event for others that perfectly implement’s the ‘reason for the season.

Registration forms may be obtained at the Lusk DFS office and need to be completed and returned no later than December 15, 2017.
