Six Tigers earn All Conference at Glenrock on Saturday

The Tigers competed in the SEWAC track meet in Glenrock on Saturday.  The girls’ team finished with 93 team points to place 3rd in the team standings while the boys finished with 74 to place 4th.  

Miranda Gilkey ended the day with four gold medals, including three in individual events.  Gilkey won the high jump going 5’ 2”.  She has won this SEWAC event four years in a row.  Her triple jump of 34’ 1.5” won that event and also ran a season’s best 48.80 to win the 300 hurdles.  She has won those events the last three years.  

Taylor Gaukel won two individual events in the 100 hurdles and long jump.  Gaukel’s time in the hurdles was 17.34, while she long jumped 15’ 3”.  She has won the SEWAC 100 hurdles two years in a row.  Gaukel also earned silver in the triple jump behind Gilkey.  

Courtney Rowley has been on a hot streak lately as she won the pole vault to earn All Conference by clearing 8’ 4”.  Rowley also won bronze in the 100 hurdles and placed 6th in the 300 hurdles.  

The 4 X 100 relay team of Gilkey, Gaukel, Rowley, and Anna Richardson ran a season’s best time of 52.99 to place first.  

Mackenzie Lyons placed 4th overall in the shot put throwing just shy of 33’ while teammate Reygan Molzahn placed 5th in the discus throwing 94’ 3.5”.

The relay team of Esmeralda Caldera, Renae Marker, Danni Larson, and Sierra Lemons brought home a 5th place finish in the Sprint Medley Relay.  

For the boys, Traylin Bruegger won the 300 hurdles in a time of 41.50 for the second year in a row.  Bruegger also placed 2nd in the 110 hurdles.

Alec Penfield was the final All Conference trackster.  Penfield won the high jump going 6’ 4”.  He won this event last year at SEWAC.

Senior Jake Heil had a pair of bronze medals in the throwing events.  Heil threw over 44’ in the shot put and 132’ in the discus.  Fellow thrower Damien Molzahn threw a personal best 116’ 3” in the discus to place 6th.  Freshman thrower Jasper Caldera also threw a personal best 42’ 5.5” in the shot put to place 6th.  

Teagan Tschacher ran a great 800 in 2:14 to place 3rd and high jumped a personal best 5’ 10” to place 4th.

Wyatt Stauffer brought home some hardware as he too had a personal best high jump of 5’ 10” to place 3rd.  He also placed 6th in the triple jump going over 37’ for the first time and 6th in the 300 hurdles.

Senior Will Fish finished a great 3200 race in 12:19 to place 4th at the conference meet.

Drake Lamp also had a nice day with a pair of 6th place individual finishes in the 200 meter dash in 24.70 and long jump going over 19’.  Both were personal bests for the freshman.  

The boys 4 X 100 relay of Bruegger, Lamp, Molzahn, and Kade Clark finished in 4th place with a time of 48.42.  The Sprint Medley Relay of Bruegger, Tschacher, Lamp, and Clark finished in a season’s best time of 3:52 to place 3rd.  

The Tigers travel to Torrington on Friday and Saturday to compete in the 2A East Regional Track Meet.
