CASPER – Following the recent recommendation of Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon and Superintendent of Public Instruction Jillian Balow to have all schools remain closed to students through at least April 3, as well as the CDC’s new recommendation of no gatherings of 50 or more for eight weeks, the Wyoming High School Activities Association continues to make changes to its plans for the spring season after cancelling last weekend’s 3A/4A Wyoming State Basketball Tournament.

CASPER – Following the recent recommendation of Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon and Superintendent of Public Instruction Jillian Balow to have all schools remain closed to students through at least April 3, as well as the CDC’s new recommendation of no gatherings of 50 or more for eight weeks, the Wyoming High School Activities Association continues to make changes to its plans for the spring season after cancelling last weekend’s 3A/4A Wyoming State Basketball Tournament.
“We will extend the suspension of all activities until Monday, April 6,” WHSAA commissioner Ron Laird said in a release Monday afternoon. “So that everyone will be on an equal playing field, there will be no practices during the suspension. If and when we do resume spring sports, we will hold to the nine-day practice rule and will count any practices from last week. Golf and tennis will not begin until the suspension is lifted and will need to meet the same practice rule as in the past.”
The WHSAA and the Wyoming Department of Education held a conference call on Monday morning.
“We will not make a decision on spring sports at this time until there is further clarity on that issue,” Laird said. “We will be reconvening the WHSAA Board to have further discussions on this matter.”
