The Saddle Up For St Jude trail ride is fast approaching.
Mark your calendar for Saturday, August 26. This year it will be held at Harley and Dolores Cushman’s ranch, 2675 U.S. Highway 20, starting at 10 a.m.. Go west on highway 20 and at the Jireh Monument turn north. Go 5 miles to the end of the road. It will be well marked with signs and ribbons.
Each year riders get to see a different local ranch on this trail ride. The money collected from sponsors, a flat amount, all goes towards St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The hospital is always working to find better ways of treating childhood cancers and improving the chances for a cure. St Jude never turns down a patient. They feel families have enough to worry about when a child has cancer, without worrying about how to pay for treatment.
We have been doing this ride annually for ten years. This town’s generosity knows no bounds and it makes me proud to be part of this event. Any amount you can give will be most welcome.
The trail ride lasts about three hours. It is an easy ride at a walking pace, so there is a lot of time to visit with friends and enjoy this beautiful country. This is a great opportunity to ride places in Niobrara County that you normally wouldn’t see.
Pledge sheets are available at: Ranchers Feed And Supply, Cow Camp Saddlery and Country Corner Hair Shop. Please stop by and pick one up. If you have any questions regarding the ride please call Carla at 307-267-7901.
