Taking off the badge and picking up the press pass

Hello, everyone. I would like to introduce you to newest reporter for the Lusk Herald, The Torrington Telegram and The Lingle Guide – me.

My name is Logan Dailey, and I recently moved to Lingle to work as a general assignment reporter. I have been working in the Nebraska Criminal Justice System since 2011 as both a Correctional Officer and a Law Enforcement Officer.

Recently, I decided I wanted to find something else to do. I have always had a love for investigation, writing and photography. After doing some research, I discovered investigation, writing and photography was the basic outline of a reporter’s job description, so I decided to give it a shot.

Going back, I was born and raised in North Platte, Neb. I graduated from the North Platte High School in May 2010. Briefly, I attended Chadron State College before beginning a career in corrections with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

Shortly after that, I accepted employment with the Chadron Police Department in Chadron, Neb. There, I served as a Special Services Officer, enforcing municipal ordinances, and a Police Officer.

While working for the Chadron Police Department, I met my wife, Alisa (Hill) Dailey. My wife interned for the Chadron Police Department while she attended Chadron State College in pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree. She completed the internship and graduated with honors in 2015.

In April 2015, I moved to Valentine, Neb., where I served Cherry County as a Deputy Sheriff. Alisa and I were married in October 2015 at the picturesque Smith Falls State Park, northeast of Valentine.

While working at the Cherry County Sheriff’s Office, I earned certification as a Remote Pilot for Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems. I regularly operated the sheriff’s office drone, in addition to regular patrols and other law enforcement responsibilities.

A significant facet of my life has been my love of aviation and volunteering for the United States Air Force Auxiliary, Civil Air Patrol. I started with Civil Air Patrol in December 2005 as a Cadet and maintained my membership to the present.

While living in Valentine, I served as an aircrew member for the Sandhills Composite Squadron. Col. John Wilson and I routinely flew sorties throughout the sandhills portion of Nebraska, where we would practice search patterns, provide fire patrols for the area, and work directly with local emergency response agencies.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, riding my motorcycle, reading and writing literature and poetry, typing on my vintage Smith-Corona Sterling typewriter, listening to music, playing musical instruments, and being outdoors.

I look forward to meeting everyone and making a positive impact on this great community. Please contact me at ldailey@torringtontelegram.com if you have a story or would like to say hello and have a conversation.
