Talent showcased, tearful goodbyes

Posted

Two days of clinicals, hard work and dedication by students, and four great teachers all combined on Friday night for a final concert of the year for LEMS. Gathering in the NCHS auditorium, middle school students were given a chance to showcase their efforts from band, instrumental solo’s, group solo’s, singing solo’s, and finally, the choir. Students had a chance to work with Mr. Greg Paulson and Mr. Paul Searcey, both from Casper, as the instrumental clinician and the vocal clinician respectively, during the clinical days.

The night of the concert provided two hours of music and very talented students. In all, twenty-six pieces were performed, including the final piece with the combined choirs.

The conclusion of the concert was a tearful good-bye as Mrs. Becky Mendoza will be off on a new path after this year and Mrs. Anita Troudt will retire after forty years of teaching. In an effort to show their appreciation, students presented gifts to both clinicians, and said heartfelt farewells to Mrs. Mendoza and Mrs. Troudt. For all her help and guidance as a fellow teacher, Mrs. Mendoza presented Mrs. Troudt with a ‘Thank You’ forty-year banner.

A final concert for NCHS took place Tuesday, May 16.
