WRIGHT – Last Friday the Tiger golfers traveled to Wright for a one-day, 18-hole tournament.
The course had a lot of water and even more wind making it a difficult day for the golfers.
Perry Benedict, from Wright, won the tournament with an 86, while Lusk’s Micah Shaner tied for second with an 88.
Ryan Bruegger tied for eighth with a 96, while Ben Eiden got back on track with a 97, finishing 10th.
Dalton Larson showed continued improvement both overall and from front nine to back nine shooting a 122, and right behind him was Jayce Cummins with a 124. The boys ended up in third place behind Wright and Thunder Basin and just two strokes ahead of Tongue River in fourth place.
Joz Potter had another solid day for the Lady Tigers, finishing fifth place with a 114. Winning the girls division was last year’s state champion from Wright, Vicky VanVleet with a 99. The water and wind were hard on Abbey Kottwitz and Sierra Eaton as they shot 141 and 157, respectively. They are still grinding it out and the girls finished fourth as a team behind Tongue River, Upton, and Sundance.
This week the Tigers travel to Upton for a one-day tournament on Saturday, and on Monday, the teams get to play at The Golf Club at Devil’s Tower in Hulett.
