DOUGLAS – Niobrara County High School wrestlers Colton Coffman and Emery Bemis placed at the annual Shane Shatto Memorial Tournament hosted by Douglas High School.
At 106 pounds, Coffman received a first-round bye and picked up fall victories over Campbell County and Wheatland to advance to the semifinal round.
Coffman edged Sheridan’s Kolten Powers in a 4-2 decision to move on to the championship match where he was pinned by Natrona County’s Tate Tromble.
At 182 pounds, Bemis picked up a pair of pins over Gering and Thermopolis to advance to the semifinal round.
Bemis lost an 8-6 decision in the semi to Kelly Walsh’s Kole Kraus, but Bemis rebounded with a pin in the consolation semifinal to advance to the third-place bout.
Bemis lost 5-4 to Natrona County’s Vincent Genatone to finish the weekend with a 3-2 record good enough for third-place finish.
At 220 pounds, Dmitri Richards went 2-2, seeing his weekend come to an end in the fifth round of the consolation bracket to Isaiah Beye.
The Tiger grapplers travel to the Newcastle Invite on Friday, Jan. 17 and to Torrington for the Blazer Duals on Saturday Jan. 18.
