DOUGLAS - The Tiger Golf Team kicked off the spring season with a tournament at the Douglas Golf Course against mostly 4A and 3A competition. Kelly Walsh High School had most of the medalists and the team title for the boys but Micah Shaner picked up where he left off last fall and shot 90 to lead the Tigers. Sophomore Ryan Bruegger shot a 97 in his first time out in almost a year for a good start to the spring. Ben Eiden shot a 104 after roping in his clubs and only using his irons on the back nine. Jayden Matthews shot a pair of 57’s for a 114 and a good opening round for himself and Dalton Larson had a great first tournament shooting a 122. After everyone finished and all the scores had been checked it was a good first day for the Tigers and we are looking for good things to come in the next 5 weeks.
The Lady Tigers were led by senior Makena Engelker shooting 109. Like most of the other players a good score to start the spring off with. Coming in with a 125 was Lucy Ceaglske and right behind her was Joz Potter with a 128. Ashley Christianson rounded out the scoring with a 140. Danni Larson and Abby Kottwitz also got their first action ever on a golf course and played an abbreviated course. Just like the boys, the girls had a good start to the season and have good numbers to improve on in the weeks to come.
