CHEYENNE – The Niobrara County High School golf team completed their spring season on Saturday, May 15.
The Tiger’s competed in a two-day culminating meet at Cheyenne Country Club. The first day provided moderate weather conditions for the golfers, and the Tiger’s got off to a fair start.
On the boys’ side, Camden Rose shot a season-low 101 and was in 11th place after the first day. The Lady Tiger’s had an uneven start and were led by Sierra Eaton’s 112. She was followed by Seniors Joz Potter (114) and Abby Kottwitz (117). Freshman Phoebe Allbright (126) and Lily Krueger (131) rounded out the team scoring. The girls were in fourth place overall, leading the Cowboy Conference (Lusk, Thermopolis, Kemmerer) with their score.
The second day brought drizzly conditions and highs in the upper 40s for the duration of the day. The Tiger golfers struggled with all six competitors shooting higher scores on day two.
Freshman Camden Rose shot a 113 to finish in 17th place out of the 35 golfers competing. Senior Abby Kottwitz shot a 122 to lead the way. She was followed by Sierra Eaton’s 124, Joz Potter’s 126, Phoebe Allbright’s 129 and Lily Krueger’s 154. The girls’ team slipped to fifth overall but defeated both Thermopolis and Kemmerer to claim the Cowboy Conference team title. Sierra Eaton finished in 10th place with a 236 and claim all-conference honors.
