LUSK – The Niobrara County High School golf teams opened the 2021 season last week with a pair of tournaments.
On Tuesday, the Tigers traveled to Cedar Pines Golf Course for the Upton Invite. The tournament was originally scheduled for the weekend but was rescheduled for Tuesday, Aug 17.
The Tiger boys’ team had two golfers finish in the top five. Camden Rose paced the team with a round of 91 to place third, while Cory Bruegger finished fourth with a 95. Gabe Matthews rounded out the Tiger field with a 10th-place finish with a round of 119.
In the girls’ division, Sierra Eaton was the lone Lady Tiger. She finished sixth with a round of 119.
On Friday, the Tigers hosted their annual fall tournament.
It was originally scheduled to be a two-day event but shortened to a one-day tournament.
Rose led the way with another third-place finish with a round of 99. Bruegger placed ninth with a 107, while Matthews shot a 116.
Big Horn won the team title with a team total of 446. Glenrock was second, and Tongue River was third.
In the girls’ division, Eaton finished eighth with a 122.
Upton won the team title with a 349, while Sundance and Tongue River placed second and third, respectively.
The NCHS golf teams travel to Sundance on Friday and to Moorcroft on Saturday.
