CASPER – Stats were not kept during Saturday’s scrimmage against Greybull at Kelly Walsh High School, but Lusk scored multiple times and held the Buffs out of the end zone. With several players adjusting to new roles, 40-0 felt pretty good for the guys excited to open this brand of Tiger football.

Senior Drake Lamp is adjusting to a new role and looks ready to break one of Lusk’s most revered school records. He scored twice in the first period on ten and 30-yard runs, before a 44-yard gallop to the endzone in the second. Lamp enters his final season needing 875 yards to break Casey Fosher’s 20-year old record for career rushing yards (4,291).

While the defense gave up a few big plays, they held strong when needed. After Lamp went 50 yards to paydirt, his and fellow seniors Jasper Caldera and Aric Eaton’s day was complete. Walker Kupke connected with Mason Wells for a 19-yard touchdown pass and Aiden Applegarth scored on an 18-yard run to cap the varsity’s day. Both JV squads played a scoreless fourth quarter.

Saturday afternoon on Gibson Field at Fullmer Stadium, the Tigers will host a team of KW sophs/juniors with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
