LUSK: The Niobrara County School District Hall of Fame selection committee has been meeting regularly, and after potential applicants were reviewed, has released this year’s group of inductees. Among the applications received- William “Al” Taylor, Steve Baribeau, Mark Lohr, Randy Corley and Ron Nelson were voted into the third NCSD Hall of Fame class. LUSK: The Niobrara County School District Hall of Fame selection committee has been meeting regularly, and after potential applicants were reviewed, has released this year’s group of inductees. Among the applications received- William “Al” Taylor, Steve Baribeau, Mark Lohr, Randy Corley and Ron Nelson were voted into the third NCSD Hall of Fame class. A few highlights of the honorees include (with full bios to be published later):

William “Al” Taylor (LHS Class of 1946): Taught in Lusk before entering the Korean War. Town of Lusk and Niobrara County attorney. Served on the Wyoming Supreme Court from 1993-98.

Steve Baribeau (NCHS Class of 1966): Two-time State Champion wrestler and member of 1966 State Champions. After serving in Vietnam, his military career produced several honors and promotions.

Mark Lohr (NCHS Class of 1966): Longtime sportswriter at The Lusk Herald, community leader, Pastor and Mayor of Lusk. He was also an extraordinary musician and singer.

Randy Corley (NCHS Class of 1970): After a brief stint in the radio business, he began announcing rodeo events where he gained fame on the pro rodeo circuit. Over a 30 year career he was the PRCA announcer of the Year 12 times and was inducted into the PRCA Hall of Fame in 2017.

Ron Nelson (NCSD educator, coach and community leader): Ron began his teaching and coaching career in Lusk. In addition to great success as a wrestling and track and field coach, he has given decades of service for The Legend of Rawhide, Niobrara County Fair Board, among others.

These selections include a diverse set of individuals that met the criteria, spanning several decades of excellence while attending and serving Niobrara County schools. The awards ceremony will be Thursday June 26, 2025, and while the dinner is private, the induction ceremony is open to the public at approximately 7:15 p.m. at the Niobrara Country Club.
