Karen Sue Hicks (Desmond)
May 25, 1957 - January 5, 2025
Karen Sue Hicks (Desmond) was born in Longmont, Colorado on May 25, 1957. She went to her heavenly home with Jesus on January 5, 2025, at her farm home near Lusk, Wyoming.
She spent her childhood in Loveland, Colorado, and graduated from Loveland High School in 1975.
On November 14, 1975, she was married to Paul Hicks from Berthoud, Colorado. She enjoyed the farm life south of Berthoud. In 2020, they moved the farm and cattle to Lusk, Wyoming. As difficult as a move like that was, she loved the new farm and ranch- open prairie and all. She and Paul had three children- Charla (Lusk, WY), Timothy (Berthoud, Colorado), and Westley (Denver, Colorado), along with three grandchildren by daughter, Charla- Kent (Lusk, Wyoming), Cody (Ft. Collins, Colorado), and Charity (Lusk, Wyoming).
Her life was completely devoted to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom she loved with all her heart and served daily through love and service to all she encountered.
Her gifting was embodied in finding those in need of support and praying with them as they searched for God’s answer. She was always a friend to everyone she met. She was the best possible companion to her husband and dearly loved and was loved by her children and grandchildren throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Wanda, and her parents-in-law, Wayne and Delores Hicks. She is survived by her husband, Paul of 49 years, her daughter, Charla, son, Timothy, son, Westley, grandson, Kent and spouse Patty, grandson, Cody, and granddaughter, Charity. She is also survived by her parents, Bob and Catherine Desmond, Sister, Phyllis, and brother, Steve, and spouse, Rhonda, along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Her celebration of life will be held in Lusk, WY, at Prairie Hills Community Center on Thursday, Jan 9, 2025, at 11 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. A reception at Prairie Hills Community Center will follow the interment at Lusk Cemetery
