NIOBRARA - Niobrara County High School (NCHS) graduating class of 2024 had their graduation ceremony on May 19. Family and friends and community members came out in droves to support the students as their journey ended from elementary through high school and now begins their future into adulthood.

NIOBRARA - Niobrara County High School (NCHS) graduating class of 2024 had their graduation ceremony on May 19. Family and friends and community members came out in droves to support the students as their journey ended from elementary through high school and now begins their future into adulthood.

The ceremony included the Tiger Band playing for the masses, graduation speeches, special gifts for retiring employees and ending with their diploma’s being given by Niobrara County School District #1 board members. The audience was welcomed by Gabriel Matthews and the commencement speaker was Jason Wasserburger. Tributes were retiring staff Sandra Johnson, Willy Wilcox, George Mirich and Roy Mendoza. Each staff had a different presenter speaking about how they will be missed and the hopes that they will enjoy their impending retirements. A power point presentation was given by Phoebe Allbright that included photos of all of the graduates that included what they are looking forward to their future endeavors. NCHS principal Katherine Kruse presented the class of 2024.

The class moto was, “Never let success get to your head and never let failure get to your heart,” said Ziad K. Abdeinour. Their colors were red and blue and each senior held their class flower, Lego-wild flower bouquet. Valedictorian was shared this year by Cory Bruegger and Melody ZumBrunnen. They each shared in giving their empowering speeches for the audience. Salutatorian was shared as well by seniors, Phoebe Allbright and Gaberiel Matthews.

Class officers were Matthews as president, Bruegger as vice president, ZumBrunnen as secretary and Camden Rose as treasurer.

The ceremony ended with the graduates lining up outside to receive hugs from family and friends and congratulations on their accomplishments.
