LUSK – Last week, quilters came from all over last week to enjoy time stitching together memories and friendships during Lickety Stitch’s first quilting session of the year.

According to owner of Lickety Stitch Quilt store Karen Wisseman, there were over 70 ladies that attended the March session. For the first time, Lickety Stitch had a “Spirit of Quilting” contest where quilters would express team spirit through either the same outfits or t-shirts. As a prize, each quilter was awarded fabric courtesy of Lickety Stitch Quilt Shop. Each lady received a participation award.

Over a decade now, Lickety Stitch has been hosting Quilt till you Wilt. There were 72 ladies that attended this year. Breaking this total down further, there were 45 ladies from Wyoming, 15 from Colorado, and 12 from South Dakota. Other attendees were from California, Nebraska, Utah, and North Dakota.

“We do a different thing every year. There was no shortage of applause for the ladies,” said Wisseman. “It’s kind of a fun thing we do. We had a team spirit theme this year. The ladies did a little skit and we acknowledged their teams.”

Because of the amount of participation, Wisseman decided another retreat needed to be added. The next retreat will be held the end of May, making it three retreats with the last one being held in September. Wisseman encourages anyone who wants to participate to sign up. There are still several openings.

Three different meals were offered by the Pizza Place, Whiskey Creek Catering, and Subway. The quilters enjoyed time shopping downtown in Lusk and patronized the local motels. There are still openings for the next two retreats. One will be held in May and the last retreat in September.
