The Tiger Golf Teams have had a sporadic Spring Golf Season thus far. Two of the first three tournaments of the season were cancelled due to weather and combined with a multitude of school activities the Tiger Team has participated in just three events so far.
On April 11, Hudson Leimser was the sole competitor for the Tigers at the 3A/4A Bulldog Invite in Wheatland. Leimser represented well against the larger schools and shot a 90 to finish in the top half of the field.
The Tiger's made their first team event in Sundance on April 25. Leimser led the Tigers with a 83 to finish in 2nd place. Aubrey Manning shot a 104 for 12th, Ridge Kupke a 109 to tie for 16th, and Ronald Krueger finished out the scoring with a 151 in his first ever event. On the girls side, Junior Francheska Bannan shot a career best 124 to finish in 9th place.
On Friday, May 2, the Tigers hosted their own tournament at the Niobrara Country Club. On a beautiful day for golf the Tigers posted several career best scores. Leimser finished in a tie for 3rd with career bests scores of 38 on the back nine and 82 total. Aubrey Manning fired a 96 to finish in the top 10. Senior Ridge Kupke, participating in his first season of high school golf, shot a career best 106 to finish 15th. Ronald Krueger finished out the scoring with a 153. The lone girl competitor for the Tigers Francheska Bannan shot a 141 to finish in 14th place. The Tigers will conclude their Spring Season this week in Wright for the Spring Championships. The tournament features teams from the Powder River Conference which includes Upton, Sundance, Moorcroft, Hulett, and host school Wright. It will also feature teams from the Cowboy Conference which includes Kemmerer, Thermopolis, Guernsey-Sunrise, Ten Sleep, and Niobrara County. Those who finish in the top 10 overall are considered All-Conference for 2A golf.
