LINGLE – Friday’s game featuring a pair of the Wyopreps 2A Coaches and Media’s top five was a bit more one-sided in the teams’ conference openers. The top-ranked Doggers ran out to a 21-6 first quarter advantage, but Cory Bruegger’s eight points in the second kept the fifth-ranked Niobrara County High School Tigers within nine at the break.
Ridge Kupke buried a pair of three pointers and Jackson Smith added another as Lusk closed within six points during the third. The home team withstood every NCHS run, and pulled away with the 67-46 2A SE quadrant win.
The junior varsity defeated the Doggers 39-26 in two quarters with Brady Swisher leading with nine points and Raynce Brott adding eight.
The C squad defeated the Torrington freshmen earlier in the week by a 47-31 score. Keen Coffman led the Tigers with 15 points and Hudson Leimser added 13.
This week NCHS visits Burns on Friday before Southeast comes to Lusk on Saturday afternoon. Friday’s JV action begins at 4 p.m. with varsity at 7, before the Cyclones games at 1 and 4 p.m.
