LUSK - Melody ZumBrunnen, a junior at Niobrara Count High school and Nathan Fish, also a junior were recognized as by the South East Wyoming Athletic Conference (SEWAC) for their athletic achievements with Athlete of the Year status.
Melody ZumBrunnen received this honor for the second time as SEWAC female track athlete of the year. ZumBrunnen is the 2023 2A State Champion in the 200m and 2023 2A State Champion in Triple Jump. She is a 5 time All State and Regional Champion. ZumBrunnen is the 100m dash NCHS record holder(12.56), 200m dash NCHS record holder (25.88), and long jump NCHS record (18' 5”). She also holds the SEWAC Conference Meet Record.
Nathan Fish, was recognized as the SEWAC Male Wrestler of the Year. Fish is a 2-time high school state champion (2022 at 113 pounds and 2023 at 120 pounds). He is a 2-time regional champion, 2-time SEWAC all conference, and 2-time all state recipient. Fish also holds a high school record of 88-7 with 69 pins. Fish was recognized with the Wyoming Governor’s Award for excellence in wrestling earlier this year. He also holds the title of AAU National Champion. He was nominated as a high school all-American and is a 4-time Wyoming High School national team qualifier.
