Lady Tigers gear up for regionals

LINGLE – To wrap up the regular season, the Niobrara County High School (NCHS) volleyball squad had a pair of matches in Goshen County last weekend. The Lingle-Fort Laramie (LFL) Lady Doggers are ranked fourth in the WyoPreps coaches and media poll, but stumbled out of the gate as Lusk won the first set, 25-18, last Friday night.

The Lady Tigers lost their edge in the second set with Lingle-Fort Laramie slipping past for the 25-21 win. The third set was close all the way, yet the hosts nabbed the 25-23 final. Another tight one described the fourth set in the 25-21 win for the Lady Doggers.

YODER – The Lady Cyclones are right above LFL in the WyoPreps poll, but didn’t give NCHS a chance to steal the first set with the 25-17 win on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Tigers hung around and made the home team work for the 25-23 second set win. The third set wasn’t any easier for the girls in blue as they held off Lusk for the 25-20 match win.

The JV split with LFL (25-18 and 20-25) and Southeast (25-13 and 22-25). The C Squad lost to the Lady Doggers (25-10 and 26-24) and split with the Lady Cyclones (15-25 and 25-21).

NCHS will take the No. 3 seed in the Southeast Quadrant into the 1A East Regional tournament this weekend in Guernsey. They open against Kaycee at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 1. During the regular season, the Lady Tigers lost to the Lady Bucs in two sets at the 1A Jamboree but won in two sets at the Tiger Invite.
