LUSK – Senior Night and Homecoming came together last Friday evening as Niobrara County High School (NCHS) welcomed Guernsey-Sunrise to Tiger Gym. After the eight seniors were honored with their families in front of a full house, the Lady Tigers settled in for a crucial 1A Southeast Quadrant match.
The visitors got off to a 7-4 lead before Gracie ZumBrunnen reeled off four service points to take the lead. Moments later Hannah Krein added three in a row as Lusk moved ahead, 18-11. A 7-2 run for the Lady Tigers closed out the first set 25-13.
The second set was much closer, yet NCHS was able to hold off the Lady Vikings 25-21. Lusk swept the match with a 25-17 third set win.
The JV and C squad also won in three sets over Guernsey-Sunrise.
NCHS enters the final week of the regular season with a pair of trips to Goshen County. On Friday they will be in Dogger Gym (C squad begins at 2 p.m.) before Saturday games in Yoder (C squad begins at 1 p.m.).
The 1A East Regional tournament will be in Guernsey from November 1-2, before the state tournament in Casper from November 7-9.
