LUSK – The Lady Tiger middle school basketball team had a busy week with Glenrock coming to town on Tuesday. The Tigers went 3-0 on the night against the Herders.
In the C game, the Tigers took control of the game from the start and won, 16-3. Mya Goodwin was on fire scoring eight points in the first quarter. Avery Johnson scored four points while Sophie Skibicki and Lainey Wurdeman each contributed two.
The B game found a similar outcome with a 39-7 final score. The Tigers led 10-0 after the first quarter. Seven Tigers found the bucket with Wyncee Brott scoring 14 points. Guards Aalyiah Pavone and Blakely Hodge both played very well, each scoring six points. Leah Krein put in five points, Hazel Gaukel four and Delani Vetter and Aspen Bieri two apiece.
The A game was a physical game with the Tigers prevailing, 34-18, after taking control in the second half. Kyla Lyons led the way for the Tigers with 16 points. Kaydence Nelson put in six points and Brott added five. Krein, Vetter and Bieri each put in a bucket while Maci Lyons added a free throw to the tally.
On Thursday, the Tigers travelled to take on Alliance St. Agnes.
In the A game, the Tigers ran into the best matchup of the season so far. The game was tied up at halftime and going into the fourth quarter. The ladies fought to the end and had a chance to tie but lost, 23-20.
Nelson and Brott led the way with seven points apiece. Matthews, Maci Lyons, and Vetter each added a bucket.
In the B game, St. Agnes was outmatched from the start. The Tigers led, 20-6, at halftime and won by a score of 33-8. Ten players found the scoring column including Krein with nine points. Three players had four points including Hodge, Vetter and Goodwin. Amber Luker hit a 3-pointer. Gaukel, Johnson, Pavone, Skibicki, and Brott all added two points.
The A team currently has an 11-3 record. The B team will try to finish the season undefeated with a current record of 16-0. The C team ended their season with a record of 5-3.
The Lady Tigers wrap up their season next week with Crawford on Monday and then SEWAC in Glenrock on Saturday where they will be seeded No. 2.
