Middle school hoopsters snag wins

PINE BLUFFS  The Lusk Middle School girls’ basketball team played their first home games on October 29 against the Guernsey Vikings.  

The B Team only played two quarters but put up some points in those 12 minutes to win, 12-5.

Scoring for the Tigers was Leah Krein with six points, Laurel Poage two, Blakely Hodge two, and Sophie Skibicki two.

In the A game, the Tigers took a 16-4 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, winning 37-14. Kaydence Nelson and Wyncee Brott led the scoring with eight points apiece, followed by Kyla Lyons with seven. Leak Krein put in six points while Hazel Gaukel, Addy Matthews, Aspen Bieri and Delani Vetter each added two.

On Halloween, the girls traveled to play Lingle and Southeast. The Tigers went 4-0 on the night.

The B Team held Lingle scoreless in the 2nd and 3rd quarters to win 24-6. Krein led the scoring with 10 point and Hodge contributed six. Vetter, Brott, Addie Lytle and Lainey Wurdeman each scored two points.

The game with Southeast was a little tighter with Lusk winning, 24-20. Krein again led the scoring with six points, Vetter and Mya Goodwin each had four and Brott and Hodge both had three. Amber Luker and Aalyiah Pavone each scored a bucket.

In the first A game, the Tigers won a close battle with Lingle by two points, 21-19. It was tight throughout the game. Kyla Lyons scored nine points and Brott seven. Nelson and Hazel Gaukel each scored two points and Maci Lyons hit a free throw.

The Tigers then blew the Cyclones out, 37-18, in the next game with nine girls getting in the scoring column. Nelson scored eight points and Maci Lyons and Brott scored six apiece. Bieri put in five points and Kyla Lyons four. Matthews, Pavone, Hodge, and Vetter each scored a bucket.

The Tigers have a busy schedule with Glenrock coming to town on Friday, followed by an away game in Wright on Saturday.
