NEWCASTLE - On Saturday morning the Lady Tiger wrestlers went north and came home with their best showing of the season. Niobrara County High School scored 26 team points to place 15th out of 19 schools entered.
Aalyiah Pavone won her first two matches in the 105 pound bracket. The first was a tough three period pin and second period pin in the semifinals.
Hazel Gaukel had a first round bye and semi final pin to set up a meeting with teammate Pavone in the championship match. The girls were tied at ten, before Pavone was able to pin Gaukel in a time of 4:13.
YODER - The Tiger boys went to the Bullington Memorial Duals on Saturday with Keen Coffman having an off day at 165 pounds. A pair of second period pins eliminated Coffman.
Linkin Heth also had a tough 120 pound bracket. He had a pair of defeats by pinfall and 13-1 major decision.
The SEWAC quad was held Tuesday night at Tiger Gym, results were unavailable at press time. With just one weekend of action before the 2A East Regionals, NCHS travels to the Carbon County Invitational in Saratoga. Girls regionals will be in Douglas Feb. 20-21, while the boys in Wright for the weekend.
