Today’s Obscure Holiday 

National Right to Know Day

Today, we celebrate our right to browse the internet, search for information, get it and even post information on our social media or blogs. Can you imagine a world where you didn’t get to know everything you need? As you’re reading this newspaper, you’re exercising the “Right to Know.”

4-H Kick-off BBQ will be held on October 3 at North Park 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Hamburgers and hotdogs for dinner. Meet with current 4-H members and leaders. Find out what 4-H is all about and how to sign up. Current members come and reconnect with your friends.

Fall activates at the library have started, and library programs are free and open to the public.

Book Discussion at the Library Tuesday, October 4 at 6 p.m. The fall book discussion series at the Niobrara County Library features books on and about music. Barb Baker returns to lead the series. Oliver Sacks book, Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain” will be discussed. To register for the series and pick up the book stop by the library or call 307-334-3490.

Library artist reception will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 5 p.m. Featuring Amy Kate Hanson. Amy discovered a love for drawing at the age of 3. She is excited to share a sampling of her drawings from the past couple years with the community in October. Horses, rainbows, and portraits in a variety of mediums will be a part of the display. Amy Kate hopes everyone enjoys the artwork as much as she enjoys the process of creating it. 

Niobrara County Library Presents the Cheyenne Harmony Chorus and  The Wyomingaires in concert Sunday, October 9th at 1:30 p.m. at the Congregational Church. An afternoon of four-part, a cappella harmony, music created from four different voice parts that beautifully blend into one chord, aka Barbershop. You’ll be entertained.

Fall Afterschool program begins at 3:40 p.m. right after school.

Science Mash-Up is planned for children in grades K-2. Want to know how things work? Join us with a mash-up of science experiments and fun. The program begins on Tuesday, August 23 and continues Tuesdays through October 25. 

Children in grades 3-6 will explore Gary Paulsen’s Hatchet with a variety of survival projects and foods planned. The program begins on Thursday, August 25 and continues through October 27. Call 307-334-3490 or stop by the library to register your children and to let us know if you can bring snacks.
