LUSK – The annual “Community clean-up Day” for the Niobrara county school district was held on Wednesday, May 11. Students pre-K through juniors and their teachers helped pick up road-side trash, clean streets, wash windows and help out the conservation district.
Those participating were grateful for nice weather given how windy recent weeks have been. Students had a good time helping to clean up their town. This is a great opportunity for students to give back to the community that supports them and encourages their activities. Many students list the clean-up day as one of their favorites of the whole year.
The school worked with the senior center to help seniors around town and to have students work in their yards. Merchants had their windows washed and sidewalks swept.
Teachers enjoyed the day as much as students, modeling that the best attitude is one of service as they raked, swept and dug alongside their students.
