DOUGLAS – Fredrick D. “Rick” Kilmer, 78, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. 

Rick was born in Lusk to Venus Charles and Ruth Janette (Medlin) Kilmer on Wednesday, August 23, 1944.

His childhood was spent on The Silver Springs Ranch in Lusk.  He worked on the ranch and at the Kilmer Creamery as a teen.  He graduated from Lusk High School in 1963, and received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Wyoming.

He married Carol Snyder and they had two children, Derren and Alisa. Rick served in the United States Air Force as a fighter pilot instructor, and the family returned to Lusk in 1974. 

Rick was a professional photographer and had a studio in Lusk.  His love of photography was lifelong. He then manufactured M&K wood stoves.  Rick was appointed to several State and County Boards.  He moved to Douglas and worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield until becoming the manager at the Douglas Business Center.  He married Sharon Donner in 1991 in Douglas.  

Rick is survived by his wife, Sharon of Douglas; children, Derren of Douglas and Alisa (Jeff) Comstock of Craig, Colorado; and five grandchildren, Blake and Pierce Kilmer of Douglas and Makenna, Gradin, and Cambrie Comstock of Craig.  He is also survived by three loving and grateful stepchildren, Lee, Jennifer, and Michaun. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Venus, on June 25, 1994; mother, Ruth, on June 22, 2013; and his brother, Karvin Ray Kilmer, on May 27, 2001.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. 

The Gorman Funeral Homes – Converse Chapel of Douglas is in charge of the arrangements.
