LUSK – Kenny Jensen of Manville figures he has graduated between 145 and 150 students through his Hunter Safety program over the last seven years. His most recent class, while smaller than usual, was full of the type of students Kenny loves to teach, those that love the outdoors already and are excited to get out and go hunting with friends and family members.

The Hunter Safety program is a program mandated by the Wyoming Game and Fish and is required for anyone born after Jan. 1, 1966, wanting to purchase a hunting license in the state of Wyoming.

Jensen holds some of the only in-person training available in the state between the decline in numbers of instructors and COVID-19 restrictions. He has had people come from as far away as Gillette and Cody. Once, he even had someone fly in from Arizona to take the class.

Anyone interested in being a trainer or assistant trainer can contact the Game and Fish via their website to find out the requirements.

“I really enjoy doing it but with more help we could offer even better classes,” Jensen said.
