LUSK – Lusk Liquors is under new ownership after Rob Carpenter purchased the store from the previous owners in February.
Carpenter moved to Niobrara county 15 years ago from Casper after purchasing a ranch just North of Lusk. He ended up purchasing the store after he sold his ranch.
“I sold the ranch, the cows and the horses after getting divorced,” Carpenter said. “I needed to find something to reinvest the money in after my divorce.”
The store currently sells beer, wine, liquor and other spirits. Carpenter also sells sodas, mixers, lottery tickets and various tobacco products. There is also a small bar on the inside and a smoking area in the back of the building that Carpenter plans to renovate.
“Have you seen all the bamboo in the back? Yeah, that’s all going to go away,” Carpenter said. “I’m going to build a whole new smoking area outback. There’s a heater out there to help keep warm during the wintertime.”
Other than renovating the back smoking area, Carpenter said he recently put in two video gambling machines in the bar area of the building.
