Over the weekend, Niobrara County residents had a chance to celebrate the second Niobrara Strong Day in Lusk. The celebration, which commemorated the second anniversary of the 2015 flood that destroyed downtown businesses, a number of homes, and pulled a community together, was also a celebration of strength and perseverance.
Beginning with a 5K color run and pancake breakfast sponsored by the hospital, inflatable rides were available to kids from 10:00AM until 2:00PM by the Chamber in front of the Post Office. Santa’s Helpers set up shop in the Bank of the West parking lot with a large menu for lunch items, Roxanne Fish was stationed on Main Street for face painting along with Wini Bryant for the Chamber selling Eclipse t-shirts. In the afternoon, families could enjoy The Tiger Plunge free swim. In addition, FCCLA had their bake sale to support those going to Nationals in Nashville at the end of the month, and a car wash. “We don’t develop courage by being happy every day. We develop it by surviving difficult times and challenging adversity” Barbara De Angelis.
