Rawhide FFA and Ag classes very productive lately

Posted

In FFA we are glad to say we got official jackets!  We had our local speech contest on February 14th. The creed winners were Wyatt Stauffer and Allison Williams. Alternate: Rylee Matthews. The sophmores, juniors, and seniors wrote a 6-8 minute speech on an Ag topic of their choice. Winners were Kylie Strauch and Amanda Smith. Alternate: Mathilda Schmidt. The winners headed to Chugwater on February 22nd. Amanda Smith and Allison Williams placed in the top 3, and will be headed to the Regional Speech Contest.

We have also been gearing up with our CDE’s (Career Development Events) and things seem to be moving smoothly. Garrett Wurdeman took his market steer to compete with the competitors from all over the country at the National Western Stock Show in the Mile High city of Denver Colorado recently.  He got 5th place with his market heifer overall.

In Ag class we have been just as occupied.  In the high school, our classes are starting the shop portion. We have been making whatever we want to, out of concrete. The 6th graders are new to Ag class and started at semester.  They have been defining agriculture and learning the history of how we got to where we are today. They have also been doing a knot tying unit.

The months to come will be busy for Rawhide FFA.
