APPLE VALLEY, Calif. – Former Lusk resident and graduate of Lusk High School, Wes Roberts recently celebrated his 90th birthday in Apple Valley. Wes was born in Crawford, Nebraska Aug. 15, 1931. He graduated from Lusk High School in 1949. He played football and basketball in high school. He and his younger sister, Evelyn, were really good dancers (jitterbug, etc. and won dance contests). He went into the Air Force and was stationed in Alaska. When he got out of the Air Force, he came back to Lusk to help his parents out. In the late 50’s he helped move his sister-in-law, Norma McClain Roberts, nieces, Terri and Sheila plus sister, Evelyn, to California for his brother, Herald (Ace) Roberts to Hermosa Beach, California. He started working for Southern California Edison like his older brothers Ace and Ralph. He met Lois Caldwell, his future wife at the Mermaid, a bar Wes and his brothers frequented. They married in 1959. Wes retired from SCE in 1990 (Apple Valley). Lois Roberts passed away in April of 2016. If you’d like to send Wes a card, he now lives in a senior apartment complex.
