Even though the weather was perfect for an outdoor track meet, 18 Tiger Track athletes travelled to Chadron to compete in the Chadron State College Indoor Invitational on Saturday to open the 2017 track season.  This annual voyage is a great way to start of the year.

“With several freshman and other newcomers to the program, this is always a good track meet to get our kids an early meet.  Also, we had several athletes attending the State FBLA conference,” stated head coach Sandra Johnson.

With only six girls competing at this meet, the Lady Tigers had some nice early season performances.  Junior Miranda Gilkey placed 2nd in the high jump going 5’.  The vaulters also had a great start to the season with freshman Miranda Mosley placing 4th at 8’1” and Jalyn McDaniel placing 8th with a vault of 7’ 7”.

Sophomore Alec Penfield was the lone placer for the boys going 5’ 6” in the high jump to place 6th.

The Tigers will compete at the Morrill Early Bird meet on Saturday.
