LUSK – VFW Auxiliary Post 3511 hosted the January Mustard Seed dinner on Wednesday, January 12. Volunteers with the auxiliary served a spaghetti dinner. A slideshow of service members with ties to Niobrara County and patriotic music accompanied the dinner. Diners learned more information about the VFW and VFW Auxiliary.
Approximately 85 community members attended this free dinner which accepted donations. The money raised from the dinner goes towards the projects the auxiliary participates in including the Buddy Poppy program and the VFW National Home for Children, various scholarship programs and historian and legislation outreach. The VFW Auxiliary is a federal program with local posts that was founded in 1914. Its goal is to support servicemen and women and their families. Anyone who is a relative of someone who has served overseas in a foreign conflict is eligible for membership. Their motto is “Unwavering support for uncommon heroes”.
