LOVELL – Connie Ann Fernau was born in Lusk on August 12, 1937. She passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of August 2, 2023, at New Horizons Care Center in Lovell. Services for Connie will be Thursday, August 10 at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, Powell. Graveside services will be held on August 12, 2023, at the Lusk Cemetery in Lusk, where she will be buried next to her husband Richard. Connie was of the Christian faith. 

Connie was raised in Lusk and Baird Nebraska. While in school, she enjoyed home economics, was a cheerleader for four years, and worked at the movie theater. She graduated from high school in Powell. She was also helpful with her two younger siblings, in addition to helping her parents at the dry cleaners they owned.

On August 30, 1954 she married Richard Fernau in Casper. To this union four children were born, Donald, Sheila, Renata, and Evette. They also had 11 grandkids, and 27 great-grandkids.

They shared their lives in Powell, Gardner, Montana outside of Yellowstone National Park, and eventually in Lovell. During their marriage, Connie and Richard owned two businesses, Montgomery Wards and Ponderosa Floral. They also built and incorporated a greenhouse into the floral shop. Mom and Dad were always up to something, whether it was working in their businesses, growing a beautiful garden and yard, enjoying their family or riding motorcycles. In 1980, they built their A-frame home and moved into town.

Connie is survived by her 4 children, Don (Sandy) Fernau of Dubois, Sheila (Jason) Green of Powell, Renata (Gary) Wantulok of Lovell, and Evette (Brad) Meyer of Lander. She is also survived by her brother Terry (Trish) Foley of Powell, her 11 grandkids and their families, and her 27 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard, parents Laura and Ed Foley, sister Dixie, Harry and Pauline Fernau, Harry Fernau Jr, Russell Fernau, Sally Fernau, Margarite Fernau, Louise and Jack Niles, Rodney Niles, and nephew Kevin Fernau, among many other extended family members. 

Services will be held at Thompson Funeral Home on Thursday August 10 beginning at 2 p.m.
