LUSK – Members of Lusk Elks Lodge No. 1797 and DOES Drove No. 64 celebrated our country’s Flag a couple of days early, on June 12, 2022. The Elks also performed a Father’s Day ceremony for the first time.
These ceremonies are open to the public. The Flag Day ceremony includes a review of the history of the flag and its role in the United States. The ceremony involves patriotic music and a statement from the lodge chaplain. Includes a citation of the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Father’s Day ceremony includes a tribute to fathers and an acknowledgement of the role they play. Tribute is given to the memory of those who have passed and a blessing is made by the lodge chaplain.
Attendance was low. Those that did attend complimented the services. After the ceremonies the DOES served dinner in honor of Father’s Day.
The Elks and DOES are uniquely American organizations, and only U.S. citizens may join. There are no foreign affiliations.
One of the Elks charges is that they celebrate Flag Day each year in a public ceremony. Our Lodge is gracious enough to include the DOES.
