Gerald (Jerry) Lee Van De Venter April 25 1936 - October 22, 2025

LUSK – Born in Tekamah, Nebras- ka and raised in Blair, Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps, re- tiring as a Master Gunnery Sergeant in 1998. He also dedicated nearly three decades to law enforcement, retiring as a Detective with the Aurora Police Department in 1994.

Jerry built a loving blended family with his wife
Sondra, raising seven children together. He cherished time outdoors—camping, fishing, and hunting—and later volunteered and worked with Colorado Division of Wildlife.

In 2022, Jerry and Sondra settled in Lusk, where he passed peacefully at age 87. He is survived by Sondra, their children Debbie, Harvey, Vernetta, Robert, Jerrie, along with 16 grand-children and 18 great-grandchildren.

Jerry will be remembered for his booming laugh, generous hugs, and spirited, kindhearted nature. He was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

A military service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 4400 W. Kenyon Ave. Denver, CO 80236 on No- vember 3, 2025 at 11:30 a.m.

A Celebration of Life Service will fol- low at 1 p.m., at Goode Centennial United Methodist Church located at 6381 Olive St., Commerce City, CO 80022.

A Celebration of Life Service will also be held at the Pier Funeral Home located at 101 W. 4th St., Lusk, WY 82225 on November 7, 2025 at 6 p.m.
