LUSK - The hallways of LEMS and buildings out at Lance Creek rang with giggles, murmurs and cheers during a recent Grandparents Day celebration hosted by Niobrara county schools. Students invited grandparents and friends into their school day showing off classroom work, the playgrounds and musical abilities. Many enjoyed snacks in the commons area and seeing where their grandchildren spend much of their lives.

Multigenerational relationships and support at instrumental in the mental and emotional health of students. Community 4 Kids intends to continue fostering those relationships and others through community based activities.

Community 4 Kids is a group focused on supporting students in Niobrara County through increased communication between school, families, and community members; increased community and parent involvement in school activities; and public recognition of success of school, teachers, and students. Last year the group hosted a family fun night and Donuts with Dads/Muffins with Moms, served treats at the Specials Showcase, made financial contributions to the students' Washington DC trip, and celebrated staff during teacher appreciation week and students after WyTOPPS testing.  This year the group has fun plans for the new school year and invites members of the community to join the group or volunteer to help with events.
