3-2 weekend for Lady Tiger volleyball

Posted

The Lady Tiger volleyball team must have had too much Homecoming spirit Friday evening as Southeast came to Tiger Gym. The visitors got off to a fast start and led 17-7 before NCHS knew what hit them. The first set ended 25-11, and the second set was 7-0 before Lusk got on the board. The Lady Tigers battled to get back in the match but the right arm of Hailey Anderson had an intimidating effect on the young NCHS girls. Southeast won the second set 25-10 and was looking for the sweep. In the third set the Lady Tigers played together, limited their mistakes and played to ties at 11, 15 and 16 before SE pulled away 25-19.

NCHS TEAM STATS: Serving- 33/39, 85 percent; 20 kills/73 atts, 27 percent; Assists- 20; 39 digs/81 atts;48 percent.

Saturday’s pool play had the Lady Tigers facing off against Wright first thing in the morning. NCHS wasn’t ready to play and the Lady Panthers won in two sets by matching 25-12 scores. Next up was Upton- a team Lusk has fared well against recently. The Lady Tigers continued that success in two sets by 25-14 and 25-24 scores. Hanna-Elk Mountain put up a good fight, but Lusk controlled the ball better in the pair of 25-19 victories. To wrap up the long day, NCHS faced Hulett and came away from the day with three wins to just one loss. The tired Lusk girls edged the Lady Red Devils 25-17 and 25-18.

NCHS TEAM STATS: Serving- 158/173, 91 percent, 23 aces; 75 kills/209 atts, 36 percent; Assists-68; 122 digs/181 atts, 67 percent.

The JV faced Southeast Friday afternoon and struggled in the 25-9 and 25-17 defeats. On Saturday they lost to Wright 25-6 and 25-10 and Southeast 25-11 and 25-5.

The C squad went to Guernsey last week and had been predetermined to play five sets no matter the outcomes. The young Lady Tigers finally got some wins under their belt with scores of 25-10, 25-16, 25-13, 25-10 and 15-7.

This weekend the Lady Tigers visit Lingle Friday evening (4/5 p.m.) before Pine Bluffs comes to Tiger Gym on Saturday for JV at 1 and varsity at 2 p.m.
