PINE BLUFFS – The Lusk volleyball team has made strides in their game recently and while the wins don’t show it, the young core are beginning to find their roles. Saturday in one of the toughest gyms to win in, Niobrara County High School dropped the first two sets by 25-16 and 25-12 scores.
Down 10-1 in the third set, the Lady Tigers suddenly clicked and pulled within 16-12. The Lady Hornets had to work for every point after that as they slipped by in the 25-21 win.
NCHS TEAM STATS: Serving 41/48, 85%; Kills 15/59; Assists 13; Digs 54/76, 71%.
NCHS PLAYER STATS: Serving – Evelyn DesEnfants 9/9, 3 aces; Lily Krueger 6/6; Adelle DesEnfants 10/11; Phoebe Allbright 7/8. Kills – Jaden Stauffer 5; Melody ZumBrunnen 4. Assists – E. DesEnfants 6; Hattie Nelson 4. Digs – Stauffer 11; Allbright 10; Krueger 10.
The junior varsity team defeated Torrington in two sets by 26-24 and 25-23 scores and the ‘C’ squad also defeated the Lady Blazers by 25-19 and 25-20 scores. Karolyse McCulley led with 18 of 19 serving and seven aces. Paige Potter had seven kills and Jaylah Cummins put up a dozen assists. At Pine Bluffs, they lost in three sets 25-10, 19-25, 25-14. Nelson was 11 of 12 serving and led with six assists.
This week the Lady Tigers visit Moorcroft Friday evening before hosting Glenrock on Saturday afternoon.
