Lady Tigers head to regionals

SARATOGA – Niobrara County High School finished off the regular season with a pair of non-conference games last weekend. It began with a Friday trip to Saratoga and the Lady Tigers played the home team close in the first two sets. The 25-18 and 25-16 scores were as close as NCHS would get, as Saratoga took an early 14-6 lead in the third set. Lusk made a 5-1 run before the Lady Panthers closed the match with a 25-13 win.

NCHS TEAM STATS: Serving- 42/50, 84 pct; Kills- 13/75; Assists- 10; Digs- 46/77, 60 pct.

NCHS PLAYER STATS: Serving- Larkin Williams 11/11; Jaden Stauffer 5/5. Kills- Lily Krueger 5; Melody ZumBrunnen 4. Assists- Hattie Nelson 8. Digs- M. Zumbrunnen 11; Krueger 11.

LUSK – Saturday was Senior Day for Adelle DesEnfants and Jaden Stauffer in their final game at Tiger Gym. Lingle-Fort Laramie took control of the first set with a 4-0 start. The Lady Tigers battled back to within three, but another visitor run pushed the score to 19-11. LFL won the first set 25-13.

Everything went right for the Lady Doggers and everything went wrong for the Lady Tigers in the second as the visitors raced to a 15-3 lead. They took the second set by a 25-9 score.

NCHS rebounded with an 8-4 advantage and forced LFL into a flurry of errors, as they continued to lead. The visitors caught Lusk at 18 and went on to the 25-20 third set win.

The Lady Tigers open the 2A East Regionals Friday morning at 11 a.m. against Sundance. All games are at Tongue River High School. Brackets and admission prices can be found at whsaa.org.

The junior varsity team finished up their season with a win at Saratoga in three sets (21-25, 25-18 and 25-17). Jaylah Cummins was 15/15 and Tessa Manning went 17/18. G. ZumBrunnen led with six kills while Evelyn DesEnfants and Williams added five apiece. Cummins and Evelyn DesEnfants each had nine assists.

On Saturday against the Lady Doggers, NCHS lost 25-21 and 25-17. E. DesEnfants led the serving with 9/10 and Paige Potter put down four kills.
