Post-season banquet honors Lady Tigers

The NCHS volleyball team and their families gathered at LEMS last week to a delicious meal of pulled pork, beef brisket, salads and desserts to honor the 2018 season.

Coaches Sandra Johnson and Kitson Boldon presented third year varsity letters to seniors Ashley Christianson and Taylor Gaukel and second year letters to senior Kianna Blackburn and sophs Anna Richardson, Courtney Rowley and Riley Shaw. Juniors Lucy Ceaglske and Allison Williams, sophomores Bryn Bruch, Danni Larson and Renae Marker and freshman Jaden Stauffer all earned their first.

Gaukel and Christianson were named to the 2A SE All Conference and All SEWAC teams. Christianson is on a very short list of three-time All-Conference Lady Tigers. After seeing the 2018 All-State list, it’s a bit disappointing to not see Christianson included.

Christianson led the conference in serving, missing just two all year (294/296, 99.26 pct.) and finished second in assists (402, 14.7 apm). Gaukel was third in the conference with 238 kills (8.7 kpm) and second in digs with 345, (12.6 dpm).

Christianson won the serving and setting awards while Gaukel won the award for kills and digs. Blackburn won the Ace award with 23 pct in 200 attempts and Richardson won the Blocking Award with 16 stuffs. Gaukel took the Serve/Receive Award with 353 (87 pct).

The JV also received awards as Williams won the Ace (33 pct in 176 atts), Dig (217, 75 pct) and Serve/Receive (190 atts, 77 pct) honors. Marker won the Kill (187 atts, 27 pct) and Blocking (5 stuffs) awards, while Harlee Blair won the Serving (168 atts, 85 pct) and Setting (74 assists) awards.
