Tiger Golf team prepares for Spring Championships

Posted

LUSK- The Tiger Golf team got in more competition in preparing them for the Spring Championships as they played in Wright Saturday. The first 2 hours were miserable weather and the players did a great job battling through it into the sunshine in the afternoon.  Micah Shaner began to score like he will for the next two years and shot a 96, good for 5th place overall.  Our next four golfers, Ben Eiden (115), Caleb Kremers (118), Ryan Bruegger (119), and Tanner Carpenter (120) finished so close to each other, just like the first tournament in Douglas that it is hard to distinguish which is 2, 3, 4, or 5.  They all improved on managing the course and should drop their scores by Spring Championship time.  The team finished 3rd place overall just 6 strokes behind the Thunder Basin team.

The girls team had Makena Engelker leading the way with a career best 114, good for 9th place overall.  In 13th place was Makayla Waldock with a 123.  Ashley Christianson (134), Lucy Ceaglske (137), and Jozalyn Potter (137) rounded out the scoring for the Lady Tigers.   Their team score of 371 was good for 4th place overall and each showed signs of good things to come in the next three weeks.  The Spring Championships will be played in Wright in three weeks so it was a good chance for the players to be introduced to that course.  This week they play at the Golf Club at Devil’s Tower on Wednesday and Sundance on Friday.
