SUNDANCE – The Niobrara County High School golf team traveled north during the last weekend of August to compete in Sundance and Upton.

On Friday in Sundance, Camden Rose shot a 92 to finish sixth. Cory Bruegger had a rough day and shot 103, while Nathan Fish shot a personal best 59 on the back nine for a 131. Landon Parker participated in his first tournament of the season as he scrambled and gained some valuable experience.

On Saturday, the team traveled to Upton and tackled the Cedar Pine Golf Course. Camden Rose posted another top 10 finish with a 90. Cory Bruegger rebounded from his off day in Sundance with a 96 to finish 10th. Nathan Fish fired a second consecutive 131 and continued to show his steady improvement. Landon Parker scrambled for the second day in a row as he worked on improving his golf game.

On Friday, Sept. 9, the Tiger’s hosted a tournament on their home course. It was wet and dreary and made for a long, cold day for the competitors. Camden Rose shot 89 to claim a third-place finish, while Cory Bruegger fired a 99 to tie for ninth. Nathan Fish continued to improve with a personal best of 125. Landon Parker competed in his first stroke event of the year and shot 157. A new member to the golf team, freshman Joaquin Cassino gained some experience in the scramble group.

The Tiger’s will conclude their fall season on Sept. 16-17 at Hay Creek Golf Club in Wright. The Class 2A State Tournament is a 36-hole event that will feature competitors from Big Horn, Glenrock, Kemmerer, Moorcroft, Sundance, Tongue River, Thermopolis, Upton and Wright.
