WHEATLAND – The Niobrara County High School Tiger track and field teams traveled back to Wheatland for round two on Saturday. The boys’ team finished sixth place, scoring 49 points, while the girls’ team finished seventh with 26 points.

Tigers compete in Wheatland

WHEATLAND – The Niobrara County High School Tiger track and field teams traveled back to Wheatland for round two on Saturday. The boys’ team finished sixth place, scoring 49 points, while the girls’ team finished seventh with 26 points.

The Tigers garnered a couple silver medals.

Junior Dylan Molzahn threw almost 44 feet in the shot put to place second, while fellow thrower Jasper Caldera went over 139 feet in discus. Caldera also finished fifth in the shot put.

Bronze medals went to Renae Marker in the high jump clearing 4 feet, 7 inches, and Anna Richardson in the shot put, throwing almost 30 feet. Richardson also threw a personal best 92-8 in the discus to place fourth.  

The boys’ sprint medley relay of Mason Wells, Stanton Ricketts, Cody Taylor and Gabe Matthews also brought home a bronze medal.

Senior Aric Eaton had a nice day with a height of 10-11 in the pole vault to place fourth and eighth in the triple jump at 35-6.

Jaden Stauffer placed in two of her events.  She placed sixth in the high jump and seventh in the 300 hurdles.  Jazmin Ladwig rounded out the girls’ scoring in the 100-meter hurdles finishing fifth in a time of 18.50 seconds.

For the boys, Cody Taylor ran the mile for the first time, placing sixth in a time of 5 minutes, 35 seconds. Freshman Caleb Miller placed seventh in the 400-meter dash in a time of 58.72 seconds.

David West earned a couple of medals, finishing eighth in the 300-meter hurdles and clearing 8-11 in pole vault to place sixth.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Cody and Collin Taylor, West and Miller completed the race in 4:08 placing fourth and the 4x100 team of Eaton, Collin Taylor, Mason Wells and Matthews finished sixth.

The track teams hope to travel to either Burns or Glenrock this Friday.
