The Niobrara County High School Tigers battled back from a 26-6 first-quarter deficit against the Lingle-Fort Laramie Doggers to make Friday's conference matchup a one-possession game in the second half.

LUSK – Guernsey-Sunrise was the first opponent in Tiger Gym last week but Nio- brara County High School had the upper hand from the start. A 9-0 run to start the game was followed by a Ridge Kupke three pointer and Lusk held a 16-11 first quarter lead.

LUSK - Students sat riveted as a woman in a brilliantly colored costume danced and swayed with energetic restrain moving vibrant hoops through motions that connected and shifted the shapes of the hoops around her body.

LUSK - Four athletes representing the Niobrara county school district competed in the regional Special Olympics on Friday, September 23.

The Youngins rodeo series held the June 13 event with around 60 competitors.

LUSK - Melody ZumBrunnen, a junior at Niobrara Count High school and Nathan Fish, also a junior were recognized as by the South East Wyoming Athletic Conference (SEWAC) for their athletic achievements with Athlete of the Year status.

A sport that combines elements of surfing with centuries-old techniques of paddling across large and small bodies of water including rivers, stand up paddle boarding has been gaining momentum ever since the first “touring” boards hit the market in 2008.

Geocaching is free, available to all age and ability levels and can be found in all fifty states and many countries around the world. According to the official website, geocaching.com there are 3,368,963 geocaches around the world and that number is growing quickly.

Raynce Brott, Addisyn Bauersachs, Marleigh Smith, and Brady Swisher along with their Coaches Amy Swisher and Ron Nelson traveled to Scottsbluff, Nebraska last week to attend Best of the West.

The Little Lady Tigers fourth-grade team attended a tournament in Casper over the weekend. The team went 3-2 and finished second.

A couple weeks ago the Niobrara County High School track and field season got underway, yet their days outside have been very limited. Visiting practice last week, the Tigers and Lady Tigers, along with almost 40 middle schoolers, were finally getting hurdles, jumping mats and other equipment onto Gibson Field at Fullmer Stadium.

As Riki Kremers enters her second season at the helm of the Niobrara County High School girls’ basketball program, many of last year’s key figures return with experience. However, most of those key players are still just juniors or sophomores. Lily Krueger is entering her third season as a varsity player and is the lone senior on this year’s squad.

Amazing was the word head wrestling coach JD Wasserburger had to define his first season after replacing Ron Nelson.

Compared to recent seasons, the 17 boys working out at basketball practice seems like a crowded gym at times. Niobrara County High School head coach Ed Fullmer enters his fifth season and isn’t complaining a bit about the extra bodies this season.

The Niobrara County Tiger Golf Team concluded its 2022 fall season on Sept. 16-17 in Wright.
