LUSK – Niobrara County High School senior David West is a four sport athlete, but track and field was always his favorite. Tuesday afternoon at Tiger Gym, he signed his official Letter of Intent in front of coaches, friends, family and classmates to continue his career at Chadron State College.

“A lot of excitement, a lot of nerves,” said West. “My hands were kind of shaking waiting for Coach Johnson to get there, a very surreal moment for sure.”

He set a new school record in the 800m run last season and will be improving those times while also running the mile and continuing to pole vault.

David will be working towards his degree in Elementary Education, with an interest in becoming a coach as well.
