Lady Tigers host hoops awards banquet

LUSK – Niobrara County High School activities director Ryan Nelson and senior dad to Lady Tiger Hattie Nelson was in charge of the main course of delicious lasagna at last week’s girls’ basketball team banquet. 

Head coach Riki Kremers, along with assistants Chris Smith and Ben Volk handed out ten varsity letters and numerous other team awards.

Phoebe Allbright earned a white letter for four years of varsity and a captain’s bar.

Juniors Tessa Manning and Paige Potter earned their third varsity letter, while senior Rachel Krein, junior Hannah Krein and sophomore Royal Kremers picked up their second. 

Freshmen Heidi DesEnfants, Addie Harvey, Sarah Krein and Marleigh Smith were awarded with their first one. Managers Nelson and Skielynn Bouissey earned their first manager letter while Haven Hendricks is a two time winner.

Rachel Krein and Manning each earned their second straight 2A Southeast all-conference selections. Krein – the Dickinson State University signee – was also included on the All-SEWAC team.

Hannah Krein’s season was interrupted with an injury. She came back to play at regionals and was awarded the heart of the team award. Allbright, Rachel Krein and Smith were named most versatile players.

The growth and development award went to Kremers, DesEnfants and Harvey. Manning was a repeat winner for the inspirational player award, and the only Iron Woman this season. Potter and Sarah Krein split the honor for sixth Iron Man of the year award.

This season’s academic athlete awards went to Bouissey, Hendricks, Kremers and Manning.

Seniors Allbright, Rachel Krein and Nelson earned the Lady Tiger Career Academic Athlete Award, reserved for athletes that achieve and maintain a cumulative seven semester GPA of 3.5 or higher while being a part of Lady Tiger Basketball.
