NCHS golfers conclude spring season

LUSK – The Niobrara County Golf Team wrapped up an abbreviated spring season on Friday,

May 10 at the Cottonwood Country Club in Torrington. The season was full of cancellations,

poor weather, and difficult practice conditions. 

The Tigers got their first taste of competition on April 27th in Sundance and their final event concluded just 13 days later.

In Sundance, Senior Camden Rose tied for third place with an 88. Freshman Hudson

Leimser broke 100 with a 97 and Aubrey Manning fired a 125. Newcomers Quintin Bieri and

Jackson Smith shot 136 and 137, respectively. 

The lone female member of the golf team, Francheska Bannan, shot a 148 in her first ever 18-hole competition that included a hole-out from 90 yards. 

The following Monday, Leimser and Manning, along with Rose, traveled to Hulett to play the Devil’s Tower Golf Course. Rose shot a 92 to again finish in third place. Leimser shot a 106 and Manning a 109 on the difficult golf course.

After another cancellation in Wright, the Tigers hosted an invitational at the Niobrara Country Club on May 4. Rose tied for seventh with a 92, Leimer shot a 98 for 17th place, Manning 117, Smith 126 and Bieri 140. Bannan shot a 159 on her home course.

The Tigers concluded their spring season in Torrington on May 10 with the 36-hole spring championships. Rose concluded his high school career with an 81-95 (176) to capture sixth place overall and third in the Cowboy Conference. Rose finishes his career as a 2022 sll-state performer, accompanied with all-conference honors in 2022 and 2024. 

Manning shot a career low 101 on the final day of competition to finish with a 208 and capture 10th in the Cowboy Conference and achieve all-conference distinction. 

Leimser shot 117-110 (227), followed by Smith at 136-139 (275). Bannan shot 160-176 (336) to finish 10th in the Cowboy Conference and earn all-conference honors.
