Visitors: Leslie Stewart was the only visitor on the agenda. Stewart came to the council to represent America’s 250th Celebration Anniversary. The County Commissioners appointed a committee to help celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary this year. They have received two grants, one from the State and a Recreation Grant as well to help with activities such as A Day in the Life of Hat Creek that happened in September and A Day in the Life of Node in October. Stewart says they have more events planned in Van Tassell and Manville and would like to hold a Day in the Life of Lusk August 8th, 2026. Some of the plans for Lusk are new historical signs for a lot of the old buildings, ten of those signs being placed next to Allbright’s True Value. The signs will also be placed at the Railroad depot, the Elk’s Lodge, the old Jail, and the Library. These signs will have QR code attached to each of them to elaborate the description. August 8th will be an all-day event to include a BBQ at lunch time and a living historical reenactment with 4th through 6th graders. Teri Sanstrum will be present to talk about Railroad History and TeriLou Nelson will talk about current Railroad Workings within Lusk. There will be a speaker at the museum to discuss paleontology and how dinosaurs are a important part of our history. There are tours of the Railroad Depot, a new Dinosaur exhibit, and of the Power Plant. Stewart stated the committee would like to think about having musical entertainment in the evening and asked for suggestions. Mayor Lytle responded, saying the town used to have dances under the overpass years ago that were always a lot of fun.
Douglas E. Lytle, Mayor
